Magical Blogorail Red - St. Patricks Day at Downtown Disney

Welcome to the first stop aboard Magical Blogorail Red. Enjoy the ride as we share St. Patrick's Day at Disney.

If you are lucky enough to be at Walt Disney World close to St. Patrick's Day you have to be a part of the Mighty St. Patrick's Festival in Downtown Disney! It's Disney's answer to a fun street party with music, dancing and lots of fun activities - including great food and beverages.  This year the festivities begin on March 7th and go through St. Patty's Day.

If you love live music they've got you covered with Elevation (a rock cover band), The Willis Clan (a fusion of Irish music and other popular genres), We Banjo 3 (Bluegrass), Goitse (oldies), and the Raglan Rebels (Raglan Roads house band) amoung others.

Dancing more your thing? The Raglan Road Dancers will be there (keep and eye out for 15 minute pop-up performances) and there's even Irish Dance Workshops so you can join in on the fun.

What's St. Patrick's day without beer and corned beef?  You can partake in traditional Irish fare at Raglan Road, and there's lots of great restaurants in Downtown Disney like T-Rex, Wolfgang Puck and Fulton's Crab House.  Be sure to follow the Red Loop for more great dining suggestions.

Love the Muppets?  This year the Mighty Family Fun Zone is sponsored by "Muppet 's Most Wanted" and you can find lots of great family activities.  Take pictures in front of the Muppets-themed backdrop, or dance to tunes played during the DJ Dance Party or lots of fun games.  Keep an eye out for living statues, stilt-walkers and performers.  Don't miss out on having your face painted or get a fun tattoo.

As you can see there's something for everyone in Downtown Disney to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. What are you looking forward to the most? Leave a comment below.

Thank you for joining me today. Your next stop on the Magical Blogorail Loop is The Disney Point.

  1. Great information, Donna! If I'm able to be there, I don't think I would have anything particular in mind for my trip, just enjoying it all and taking it all in!

  3. I didn't know they did Irish Dance workshops - how fun! I'm with Mike Ellis - just wandering around and taking in the atmosphere (and a great meal or two) sounds like a great way to spend St. Patrick's Day!

  6. I know this has nothing to do with downtown Disney, but my favorite part of St Patricks day is Shamrock shakes at McDonalds :) And the Muppets Rock!

  11. I am SO hoping I can get to Downtown Disney this weekend for some pre- St. Patrick's Day partying. One of our favorite things to do is to sit outside on the patio of Raglan Road, drink a pint of Harp, and listen to the bands; we just need to do it closer to the actual holiday for some real flavor!!!
