Easter Egg Tips & Tricks

Easter is just a few days away, and you're still trying to figure out what the kids are wearing to church and what you're having for lunch.  You haven't even thought about coloring eggs and filling baskets.  I have a few tips here that I think will help you make it through this holiday weekend.

Have you ever seen an egg that looks like this while you are getting them ready for coloring?  I sure have, I have tried all kinds of tricks for hard boiling my eggs the proper way so that they won't crack - I've added salt to the water, I've added vinegar to the water, I always start with cold water so that the eggs and water heat up at the same rate.  I still have cracked eggs in the pot... If you want to hard boil your eggs, here is a good article for helping you do it properly.  Have you thought about steaming your eggs rather than boiling them? How about baking your eggs in the oven rather than boiling them?  I steamed mine this year (we are coloring them tonight) and they turned out great.

Looking for some different ways to color those eggs? Have you every tried decorating with color crayons? This post from Disney's Family Fun shows you how.

How about creating your own herd of eggimals? OK - these cuties are made from plastic eggs, I just couldn't resist. This idea, also courtesy of Disney's Family Fun, is perfect for Easter Baskets, don't you think?

How about marbled eggs from supplies you already have in your kitchen? This post at Kaboose shows you how to take vinegar, food coloring and cooking oil and create beautiful marbled eggs.

Be sure to add some Disney Love to your eggs, you can use stickers bought at a local discount store or download these cute printable stickers from Disney's Family Fun here.

I hope I was able to give you some ideas for creating some family fun while decorating Easter eggs.  May each of you have a Blessed & Happy Easter!!

Have a Magical Day!
Donna Kay
