I hope you all realize how much your support of Mentoring Mondays means to me. My sole intention is help all of us become the best bloggers we can be. With that said, I am implementing changes that I feel are best to help us achieve our goals. There will still be the interviews you all love, but with other great blogging tools and information added to the mix.
Increasing Blog Traffic
What is the number on thing that bloggers want to know, how do I increase traffic to my blog? Today I am sharing some of my favorite information from the internet to help you achieve that goal.
- Take advantage of a spike in your blog traffic. Melissa with Momcomm has a great post about taking advantage of a spike in your blog traffic. My favorite tip is "Don't Disappear." If you have a spike in blog traffic, the worst thing you can do is not post for a few days. Take advantage of the momentum with another great post.
- Start a blog series. The SITS girls have all the answers to your Why, When and How to run a blog series questions. When it comes to blogging advice and tips it's hard to beat what the SITS has to offer. My favorite piece of advice from this post : Write a great opening post to a series, chances are people will come back to read the subsequent posts.Guest post for other bloggers.
- I love this post on Problogger about guest posting for other blogs. Great advice from this blog post is: "The best way to make a guest post pay off for YOU is to make it pay off for the reader. Write something that makes readers think – ‘I really want to read more from this person’ and they’ll check you out in droves."
- Take advantage of Pinterest. I had never thought of using Pinterest to drive more traffic to my blog until my Magical Blogorail friend Kristin Scroggin mention it recently. Here is the Forbes article she suggest we all read. It was one of those moments where you think, I can't believe I hadn't thought of that. I now pin all of my Disney Party Boards as well as photos from my Did you know... series.
This last bit of advice comes from me personally,be true to yourself. If you love what you are writing about followers will come. Keep in mind that 10,000 views a day is not reality for most bloggers, set realistic goals for yourself and celebrate the small stuff. I would rather have 15 views a day and be happy with what I have written than have 10,000 views and not be true to myself.
Lastly, I think the world would be a much better place if we all followed the Golden Rule we all learned in grammar school:
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."Have a Magical Day!!
